Don S. Davis was a great actor and beloved Stargate icon, His portrayal of General Hammond has captured the hearts of Stargate fans around the world. We at SGWIRC feel with his presence both on and off the screen that a moment of silence is fitting.

We wish his family all the best and he will be missed.

For all the fans, Hammond of Texas has fallen and will be missed!

Dear Fans and Friends of Don S. Davis,

So many of you have been touched by not only the work and art of Don S. Davis, but by the man himself, who always took the time to be with you at the appearances he loved, that it is with a tremendous sense of loss I must share with you that Don passed away from a massive heart attack on Sunday morning, June 29th.

On behalf of his family and wife, Ruby, we thank you for your prayers and condolences. A family memorial where Don's ashes will be scattered in the ocean will take place in a few weeks, and should you wish to, please make a donation to the American Heart Association in Don's memory.

SGWirc is looking for two new members to join the amazing support team on the irc network. Basic knowledge of how IRC works is required, but more can be taught on top of that. It involves giving a few voluntary hours a day to sit and talk on the SGWirc network, and if people have any issues you are to help them resolve (mainly in the channel #support).

The job involves:
Helping new users register their nickname.
Helping new users auth (identify) to the services.
Helping new users register channels for their SGW related channels.
Being involved in staff discussions and giving your input.

This role does not involve:
'Shunning', 'killing' or 'glining' (banning) users off the network.

Support staff are expected to set an example and be familiar with the rules of SGWirc.

It will be a few days before we decide to start talking to all the people who have submitted their interest. Please remember we are providing a service for the SGW Community and as such members of staff need to act responsibly. I use the word volunteer because SGWirc is non-profit, it is all run out of the pockets of the server owners, and we can offer nothing in return but our thanks and of course the satisfaction gained from helping people.
